How to: Change the default folder to which Explorer opens.
Solution:
Open the 'Windows Explorer Properties' dialog box, edit the target line of the 'Explorer' shortcut, and add C:\<directory> to the end of the line.
1) Right-click the Windows 'Start' button. (A pop-up menu appears.)

2) Select 'Open' from the pop-up menu.
3) Double-click the 'Programs' icon.

4) Right-click the 'Windows Explorer' shortcut icon. (A pop-up menu appears.)
5) Select 'Properties' from the pop-up menu. (The 'Windows Explorer Properties' dialog box appears.)
6) Click the 'Shortcut' tab.
NOTE: The default path for Explorer is listed in the 'Target' box as follows: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:
7) Edit the path listed in the 'Target' box so that it looks like the following:
Type: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\<directory>
(where <directory> is the directory to which you want Explorer to initially open).
